In September of 2011, Alex was experiencing chest pains and was unable to catch his breath. After extensive testing, Alex was found to have Sarcoma, a very rare form of cancer. In November of 2011, he had surgery and a tumor the size of a football was removed from his lung, along with his entire right lung. He recovered from the surgery remarkably and was thought to be cancer free, but within a month, the cancer had spread into his bones and his brain. In April of 2012, Alex lost his battle with cancer.
Alex was a 2005 graduate of Kaukauna High School and enjoyed writing poetry. Alex was a free spirit, who always had a smile on his face. His beautiful blue eyes were a direct reflection of his soul. He had an aura about him that would draw people to him, especially children. His greatest love in his short life was his now, thirteen-year-old daughter, Alexanndrea, who will continue his legacy of peace, kindness and love. His soul and spirit lives on in all those he has touched.
